Fidel Castro Unit
Introductory Essay
The Castro unit covers from 1953-1970s. Most of the emphasis on this unit is placed on Castro's internal policies and the nature of his semi authoritarian style. Much of Castro's foreign policy activities are covered in this unit with the exception of the Cuban Missile Crisis. This is a major prep for a Paper Two SPS (Single Party States) question and is quite important because it is the critical 'other SPS region' asked so many times in Paper Two. Castro is of interest to HL and SL students.
